Trading Post Rules
1. FFL Transfers Required In accordance with Colorado law, all firearms transfers—including private sales between individuals—must occur through a Federal Firearms Licensee (FFL). The FFL will conduct the mandatory background check. Bypassing this requirement is a felony and will result in a permanent ban.

2. Magazine Capacity Restrictions Do not list, solicit, or trade large-capacity magazines. Under Colorado law, magazines are restricted to a maximum capacity of 15 rounds.

3. State Waiting Periods Both buyers and sellers must adhere to the mandatory Colorado statutory three-day waiting period for all firearms purchases and transfers.

4. Mandatory Listing Formatting & Proof of Possession All classified listings must include:
  • A clear, specific asking price (No auction-style listings).
  • Your general location or the region you are willing to travel to for the FFL transfer.
  • An accurate description of the item's condition and round count (if applicable).
  • Clear photographs of the actual item being sold (No manufacturer stock photos).
The Timestamp Rule: To protect our community from fraudulent listings, all "For Sale" or "For Trade" threads must include a physical timestamp in at least one clear photograph of the item.
  • What is a Timestamp? A physical piece of paper placed next to the item containing your exact forum username and the current date, handwritten in ink.
  • No Digital Editing: You may not digitally add your username or date to a photo using image editing software. It must be a physical piece of paper in the original photograph.
  • Visibility: The item and the handwritten note must both be clearly visible in the same frame. If you are selling multiple items in one thread, all items must be present in the timestamp photo.
  • Exemption: Approved Commercial Vendors and verified FFL dealers operating with commercial accounts are exempt from this timestamp requirement.
Optics & Serialized Gear: To deter the sale of counterfeits, a clear, legible photograph of the manufacturer's serial number must be included for any item that is serialized from the factory (this includes all red dots, holographic sights, magnified scopes, and NFA items). If a factory-serialized item has its serial number removed, altered, or defaced, it may not be listed for sale.

Threads failing to include a valid timestamp or serial number verification will be locked or deleted by the moderation team until the seller can provide proper verification.

5. NFA ItemsSuppressors, SBRs, SBSs, and other NFA-regulated items may be listed, but the seller must clearly state that the item is on a Form 4 and that all ATF transfer protocols apply.

6. Buyer BewareColorado Gun Hub is not a party to any transaction. Buyers and sellers assume all risk. Verify the identity of the person you are dealing with, inspect all items before finalizing the transfer at the FFL, and protect yourself against common online payment scams.

7. Communication and Privacy (No Public Phone Numbers)To protect our members from data scraping bots and common off-platform scams, do not post your phone number (even in cryptic alpha-numeric form) or personal email address in the public text of your listing. All posts that include phone numbers in the text of their postings will be removed by the moderation team.
All initial contact, questions, and negotiations must be conducted through the forum's Private Messaging (DM) system. Once you have established contact via DM and vetted the buyer/seller, you may exchange phone numbers privately to coordinate the FFL meetup at your own discretion.
